Abdullah Al-Salem Suburb Office for Healthy Cities Introducing you to the “Healthy Cities Initiative”, which is a global and national (voluntary) initiative which, by the grace of God and the efforts of the suburb’s residents, has been registered in the Regional Network of the World Health Organization (  WHO) On 2/2/2020, it became the fifth district in the Capital Governorate and number 11 in the State of Kuwait. Today, we are striving with the combined efforts of the residents of Abdullah Al-Salem suburb  to adopt it as a “health city” after we meet the standards required by the organization Global Health, which is 80 standards divided into 9 axes distributed over all aspects of life, and the adoption of Abdullah Al-Salem suburb as a healthy city would develop the region in all environmental, social, health, educational and security aspects, all of which will be reflected on the health of its residents and their community cohesion. Also, increasing the adoption of cities inside Kuwait is raising the reputation of Kuwait, and this will only be achieved through the efforts of its residents and in partnership with governmental and private institutions, knowing that currently one area has been approved at the level of the State of Kuwait, which is the Yarmouk area as a health city.

The organizational structure of the Abdullah Al-Salem suburb city was approved by His Excellency the Governor of the Capital Governorate Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah on December 26, 2019 in the city’s six committees (Environmental Committee, Educational Committee, Health Committee, Social Committee, Security Committee and Media Committee).

Why is the Healthy Cities Initiative important?

At the population level:

Because a person's life, health and happiness are affected by the environment in which he grows up, grows and works, and is also affected by social ties, security and education. Improving all the above factors improves the health of the population, as the traditional systems based only on the efforts of government and private institutions have become unable to achieve health promotion. For example, chronic diseases are still on the increase despite the availability of various health services, unless the residents of the region are the decision-makers in the change and partners with the systems Traditional we will get to health and sustainable development.

At the level of the State of Kuwait and globally:

The healthy cities initiative is important in raising the status of the State of Kuwait by increasing the number of registered and approved areas in Kuwait.
